If your landlord failed to protect your tenancy deposit in a government-approved scheme, you could be entitled to claim compensation of up to 3× your deposit amount under the Housing Act 2004. Our specialist solicitors handle everything on a No Win, No Fee basis.
Under the Housing Act 2004 (sections 213–215), landlords in England and Wales must protect assured shorthold tenancy deposits in one of three government-approved schemes within 30 days: the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS), the Deposit Protection Service (DPS), or MyDeposits. If your landlord failed to do this, you can claim 1–3× your deposit in compensation — even if the deposit has already been returned.
